About The Breed
The curly coated, non shedding Lagotto Romagnolo is a rare Italian, medium sized purebred canine that is a member of the Gun Dog category. This is one one of the few purebred canines breeds that has remained unchanged for many centuries even though they almost got wiped out in the 1970s. They are one of the rarest dog breeds in the world, and because they are so rare there is only a few hundred of them in the United States. They were originally bred for duck hunting and love being in the water, but as the breed progressed, they became truffle hunters because of their strong noses.
